Haha!  I had to do it since this is my last semester with such a wonderful Professor!  You know you will miss me Brian >.< Yes, there are 200 ‘words’ there!

For real though, I loaded and unloaded my last bisque load as an undergrad this week-how bittersweet L  Beginning tomorrow, I will be glazing and firing until Sunday (honestly, it should only take 2 glaze runs if I play my cards right ;) )

Dinnertime!

Never fear, dinnerware is here!  This past week I have been diligently working on making a new dinnerware set for my home (and possibly available for retail in the future).  This is only something that I have wanted to do since I began my endeavor in ceramics >.<  So far, I have made six dinner plates, 3 bowls and a couple of lunch plates.  Due to the design shape of this set-it takes a bit longer to hand make these instead of throwing them on the wheel (which some could do-if the shape were easier-in no time). But, I do love the challenge! By Thursday of this week, I plan to have at least six to nine pieces of each ware.  This way, I can load them in the bisque on Thursday-thankfully, I made them of a thinner design and have finally narrowed the best drying method within my studio that will prevent them from drying too fast and cracking.

As for the rest of this past week, I have continued working on graduation prep and I finally got my handmade announcements out (I saved over $100 doing my own!).  I mean honestly, what kind of artist would I be if I didn’t design and create my own graduation announcements? >.<

This past weekend was also Easter, so I had a little art fun in the kitchen too (ART IS EVERYWHERE!).  Instead of dying the shell of the eggs, I decided to dye the cooked whites and make them into deviled eggs (which are our favorite!). They came out very nicely! I do believe this will become a new tradition of my family’s J

Well, that is it for the recap of what I have been up to-now it is time to get back to work!  Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to feed the fishies!

Busy, Busy

This week’s post will be quite short due to the fact that there is less than 28 days left of the semester J YAY! And ACK! Both sentiments come to mind right now. So much to do with so little time left!

Last week, I was able to figure where I need to be and I was finally able to pin down a game plan to finish the final semester of my undergraduate career.  I am so relieved to have this vital information because we all ‘know’ that I am a planner-haha.

So, I have been working on graduation preparation (which turns out to involve a lot more than you would think!). Within grad prep, I have designed and am not bringing to life my own graduation announcements.  Boy am I saving a whole lot of money doing this!!  Besides, I figured since I am an artist it would kind of be sacrilege if I did not make my own announcements >.<

OH! I have also received some VERY good news…I am officially graduating with ACADEMIC HONORS!! WOO HOO!!!  I even get to attend a prestigious event the day before commencement to receive my distinction J  SO excited!!

I am also very happy to give a huge CONGRATULATIONS to my ceramics professor for making TENURE-WAY TO GO!!! You definitely earned it J

Well, I need to get back to the grindstone-until next week!!! Feed the fishies!

Honest Truth

Okay, I have to be true to myself and everyone out there reading this. I am finally going to pick myself backup and attempt to clear my head of all the confusion I have been under this semester (specifically since my show ended).  Honestly, I have not been able to distinguish whether I am coming or going!  Could it be because graduation is so close and my whole being has been shutting down since my final show?  Or could it be because my body is shutting down from the toll of the preceding years?  I am not sure, but I do know that I feel like I am drowning and missing important information.  Truthfully, at this point-I am truly afraid of my ability to graduate as expected.  UGH! However, my next step is to get the vital plan/agenda needed in order for me to graduate as expected and I will be doing this step beginning TOMORROW!

Regardless of the immense turmoil I am battling, I have been able to finally reclaim my studio and get back to work creating wonderment.  I am also going to be honest here-my throwing abilities are in desperate need of honing and I am afraid that it will demand more time than the mere 29 days I have left of the semester L  BUT!!! While I am no longer going to pursue my dinnerware project on the wheel-I AM going to continue challenging myself in being able to create a decent set of spheres on the wheel.  On that note, I finally managed to get a small one made (well, it mostly looks like a sphere). Never give up, never surrender!

I have also got a really good direction begun on my dinnerware project (that will now be handbuilt).  I am testing two principle designs: 1. Book & 2. Tort Embellish.  In continuance of honesty, I really like the prototype of the Book version but I need to reevaluate its ability at recreation.  As for the Tort Embellish, I really like the embellishment of the tor itself, but I am going to go with a different shape and style of the dinnerware itself.
